Student Parliaments

It was the dream of our senior management to start Children’s Parliament in our school since it helps the school and the management to understand the views of the children. The Student parliament aims to:

  • To provide forums for children to voice their concerns
  • To be a movement from below focusing on child rights
  • To help growth of children as responsible and dynamic citizens
  • To initiate children into proactive involvements
  • To promote participation of children in governance
  • To do the above in a fun-filled, sustained process

Clubs & Activities

In addition to our academic programmes, we offer an extensive array of extra-curricular activities with an assortment of clubs like nature club, music, drama, painting, press club etc.

A balance is created by interspersing outdoor action with indoor skills like yoga, meditation, painting, acting, quiz, music and dance.

Students are encouraged to participate in various clubs and special time is allocated on Saturday and Sunday for club activites. The whole idea is to develop the children holistically.

Social Responsibility

One of the major missions of the Vishwashanti Gurukul Pandharpur is to develop the community and the feeling of giving back to the community amongst it’s students. Vishwashanti Gurukul Youth wing was formed in the school and is actively involved with adopting villages. The students visit the villages and communities and give street plays and presentations to create awareness.

In addition the children collect data and problems that are affecting the villages and try to provide practical most cost effective solutions.

This is a great way to develop research and problem developing skills in the children and making them aware of the fact that tomorrow they need to give back to the communities in some smaller practical way as possible.

Nature Club

This club is being run by the student body and the members. They do meet every Saturday and have activities every Saturday and Sunday for the same.

Literary club

This also is another club run and managed by the student committee of the club with members. This is about reading, creative writing and presentations. They meet every Saturday and Sunday for various activities to fulfill the objectives of the club.

Co-curricular Activities

MIT VGS recognizes that sports should be an integral part of every student’s life. Sports and co-curricular activities help in all round development of the students.
Structured sports curriculum starts right from Nursery with basics about balancing, walking and right posture being taught. As they progress specific sports curriculum for sports like football, volleyball, basketball, skating, swimming, chess, carom, tennis etc. is taught as a subject under professional guidance. For self-defense all the students undergo karate training which is extremely vital in today’s day and age. Aerobics and specialized yoga form part of the routine on Sundays.

Music, Arts and Crafts

Each morning, assembly begins with a meaningful piece of world peace music. Students are encouraged to listen carefully to the music as it helps relaxing, meditating and understanding.
This child friendly school has stipulated periods of music in a week Vocal as well as instrumental music is taught to every child. Indian as well as western forms of rhythms and ragas are incorporated in the music curriculum.
Indian classical and western forms of dances are taught to each child with focus being on developing the rhythm and stability of mind and body.
In house art competitions are held with a house board competition each month to display various crafts like pottery, origami, etc which motivate children to learn and explore their hidden talent.

English Language Communication, Speech and Drama

Special thrust is placed on English language communication. Professional advice and guidance is given to students to improve their command over the language both for written and vocal purposes. Inter-house competitions are held for speeches, role plays etc which are used as mediums to improve language skills.

House System

The house system in the school forms the basis for a healthy and friendly competition amongst students. Our 4 houses are used both sporting and academic purposes. House boards are an integral part of the hostel with students decorating their own boards which are judged each month.

Young leaders are born when house captains are selected. It is ensured that all children get equal opportunity to prove their mettle and show characteristics of a good leader and a smart team player as well.
