Palkhi Celebration

27th

Jun | 2019

MAEER MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul school (CBSE) Loni  Pre-primary section celebrated the festival of  ‘Ashadhi  Ekadashi ’ with great zest and zeal on Thursday, 27th June 2019 in the school premises. This event was brought into existence to sensitize the young minds with traditional integrity amongst each other.
The students were told how Palkhis from different parts of Maharashtra converge on Pandharpur. Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhi from Alandi and Tukaram Maharaj from Dehu start marching from their start points and reach Pandharpur in 21 days. After reaching Pandharpur devotees take a holy dip in the Chandrabhaga River and then proceed to take blessings of Lord Vithoba.
A special assembly was conducted by the students of Jr.KG and Grade III where the students told about the importance of ‘Ashadhi  Ekadashi’.
The tiny tots were dressed in traditional attire as Warkaris and a boy of Jr.KG  was dressed as ‘Lord Vitthal’. The Palkhi was carried by the two children while the others followed in the Dindi Procession all over the school premises.
The Palkhi was beautifully decorated with flowers and had holy footwear (Paduka).  The little girls carried “ Tulsi Vrindavan” while boys recited holy name of “Lord Vitthal”. On this auspicious day, the school was filled with the Vitthal Vitthal Gajar.
Dr. Sandeep Khanna, Principal of MIT-VGS, also accompanied the tiny tots in the procession. Our tiny toes were the real heroes here as without them the event was just an imagination which came into existence with their little footsteps.
The participation of the children in the Palkhi Procession gave a message of social awareness and a feeling of oneness.
